You rarely need coins anymore. Parking apps let you start and stop a session from your phone and pay only for the time used — but a few mistakes still lead to fines.
How app parking works
You register your plate, pick the zone code shown on the meter or signage, and start a session. You can extend or stop it remotely. The control car checks your plate against active sessions.
Common apps
- 4411 — by SMS or app, widely accepted across Belgian cities.
- Seety — helps find and pay parking and tracks your sessions.
- City or operator apps (Indigo, Q-Park, local schemes).
Mistakes that still get you fined
- Wrong zone code — you paid, but for another area.
- Typo in your plate.
- Session expired while you were away.
The good news: if you genuinely paid, the receipt in the app is strong proof. Take a screenshot, and Quitte will turn it into a contestation that's hard to refuse.
