Not every excuse works, but several recurring situations get fines cancelled. If one of these matches your case, say so clearly and attach proof.
Grounds that often succeed
- You had paid — a valid ticket, app session or SMS covering the time and zone.
- Valid permit — a resident or care-worker card that wasn't recognised.
- Wrong plate — the notice lists a plate that isn't yours, or a typo.
- Broken meter — the machine was out of order and no alternative was offered.
- Missing or contradictory signage — no visible sign, or conflicting signs.
- Not the keeper — the car was sold, scrapped or stolen at the time.
- Loading / emergency — a brief, justified stop where allowed.
- Formal defect — missing legal basis, wrong date, or an unreadable notice.
- Duplicate — you were fined twice for the same session.
How to present them
Pick the one or two strongest grounds, state them factually, and attach evidence: a photo of the missing sign, the ticket, the resident card, the sale document. A focused letter with proof beats a long emotional one. Quitte analyses your fine and tells you which of these grounds apply before drafting the letter.
